Abstract:
This vehicle drive device utilizes a parallel-shaft gear decelerator (30), each gear of which is formed as a helical gear, in a decelerator unit (B) that decelerates and outputs the rotation of an electric motor unit (A), wherein, from among gear meshing sections formed in the deceleration unit (B), with respect to two gears that form a meshing section where the misalignment quantity that occurs between tooth faces of the two mutually meshing gears differs when a vehicle is being driven and when the vehicle is coasting, tooth face modification is performed on a first tooth face (S1) that meshes with a counterpart side during driving, and tooth face modification is performed on a second face (S2) that meshes with the counterpart side during coasting, such modification performed at a tooth surface modification quantity different than that used to modify the first tooth face (S1).
