Abstract:
The present invention provides assistance control which is capable of further suppressing an uncomfortable sensation felt by a driver when driving assistance with respect to a rear-side obstacle is carried out. A driving/braking force control unit (8) detects the shape of the road in front of the vehicle in which the driving/braking force control unit (8) is mounted, and, on the basis of the detected road shape and the amount of steering performed by the driver, determines whether the driver intends to change lane. Furthermore, the driving/braking force control unit (8) detects an obstacle at the rear side of the vehicle. If it is determined that the driver intends to change lane and said obstacle is detected, the driving/braking force control unit (8) decided to start approach prevention control for preventing the vehicle from approaching the obstacle, and if is it determined that control is to be started, the driving/braking force control unit (8) carries out approach prevention control for providing assisting to prevent the vehicle from approaching the obstacle. During this process, the driving/braking force control unit (8) determines the accuracy of the detection of the shape of the road in front of the vehicle, and, if the detection accuracy is low, suppresses said determination to start control.
