Abstract:
In a system that assists the driving of a vehicle, when an object is recognized in the host vehicle's direction of travel, turn control for the host vehicle is executed by means of an assistance control unit to avoid a collision with an object. After the assistance control unit has started to execute turn control, said turn control is canceled by a turn control cancellation unit if the correlation between a vehicle status and specified parameter value does not belong to a preset normal status range, said vehicle status being related to the turning of the host vehicle, and said parameter being related to said turn control. Said turn control cancellation stops excessive steering wheel operation caused by a low-friction travel road surface, and is capable of eliminating a driver's feeling of unnaturalness.
