Abstract:
In a system that assists the driving of a vehicle, the invention executes turn control for the vehicle, said turn control being for the purpose of avoiding a collision with an object, and being executed when the object is recognized in the host vehicle's direction of travel. However, within the total range of a continuous turn control interval between a specified control starting point at which host vehicle turn control is started, and a specified control end point at which turn control ends, execution of said turn control is permitted only when the distance between the object and the position of the host vehicle subjected to turn control is no more than a specified avoidance distance determined to require avoidance of a collision with the object.
