Abstract:
A vehicle headlight (1) comprises a lamp unit (10) that can change a light distribution pattern of light to be emitted and a control unit (CO) that controls the lamp unit (10) on the basis of information inputted from a detection device (120) that detects a prescribed object located ahead of a vehicle (100). When the prescribed object is not detected, the control unit (CO) controls the lamp unit (10) to emit light having a high beam light distribution pattern (PH) including an additional light distribution pattern (PAH), whereas when the prescribed object is detected, the control unit (CO) controls the lamp unit (10) such that the amount of light is reduced in first areas (91a, 91b, 91c) that are of the additional light distribution pattern (PAH) and overlap at least partially with the prescribed object and the amount of light is increased by a predetermined factor or a predetermined amount in a second area (92) different from the first area (91a, 91b, 91c) as compared to the case in which a prescribed object is not detected.
