Abstract:
A vehicle mirror 1 includes an image display section 20 for displaying an image with first polarized light and a mirror section 30 arranged on the image output side of the image display section 20. The mirror section 30 includes, in order from the image display section 20 side: a first polarizer 31 which transmits first polarized light and reflects second polarized light, for example; a polarization controller 33 for controlling the polarization state of light; and a second polarizer 35 that transmits the first polarized light and absorbs the second polarized light. The polarization controller 33 includes a liquid crystal layer 33A, a first electrode 33B provided on the first polarizer 31 side of the liquid crystal layer 33A, and a second electrode 33C provided on the second polarizer 35 side of the liquid crystal layer 33A. At least either the first electrode 33B or the second electrode 33C is made up of a plurality of area electrodes.
