Abstract:
To allow identifying or provisionally identifying the model of a vehicle even when identification of said model on the basis of at least some distinguishing features of the body of the vehicle is not possible, this vehicle model identification device (2) comprises: a storage unit (14) which stores a first database in which is stored, for each of a plurality of vehicle models, a feature value of at least part of the vehicle body of each model, and a second database in which is stored, for each of the plurality of models, a feature value of a component which is included in the at least part of the vehicle body of each of the models; and a processor (15) which carries out a first vehicle model identification process of querying the first database and identifying the model of the vehicle on the basis of the feature value of the at least a part of the vehicle body which is extracted from a captured image, and a second vehicle model identification process of querying the second database and identifying the model of the vehicle on the basis of the feature value of the component which is extracted from the captured image.
