Abstract:
A vehicle monitoring device according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises a determination unit and a reading unit. The determination unit determines whether a specific part of a vehicle is present in a specific area among a plurality of areas in an image that is captured by an imaging unit that is attached at a position that makes it possible to capture an image of the vehicle, said areas being the result of dividing the image using at least dividing lines that are approximately orthogonal to the travel direction of the vehicle. When it is determined that the specific part of the vehicle is present in the specific area, the reading unit reads information that is recorded on a license plate that is attached to the vehicle from the specific area.
