Abstract:

This vehicle-mounted environment recognition device is provided with: an image capture unit which acquires an image captured by an image capture device; an image self-diagnostic unit which performs a diagnosis for stain on a lens of the image capture device for the image acquired by the image capture unit; an application execution unit which executes an application that has been selected from a predetermined application group; and a failure assessment unit which, on the basis of the diagnostic result of the image self-diagnostic unit, assesses whether or not the state of staining of the lens is within a range of tolerance of the application on the basis of the diagnostic results of the image self-diagnostic unit, and if within the range of tolerance, sets operation of an application that is to be executed by the application execution unit to suppressed mode, and if outside the range of tolerance, either performs stain removal control or performs a failure assessment for the application. At an optimal timing for each application, it is possible to perform a self-diagnosis by way of an image with regard to whether to implement parameter adjustment, stain removal using hardware, and assessment of failure.
