Abstract:
This radar device creates, with respect to a plurality of observation points, a strength distribution indicating the correspondence between: a relative speed parameter pertaining to an observation point relative speed; and a reflectance strength parameter pertaining to the reflectance strength of radar waves reflected by the observation point. The radar device further determines that a traveling vehicle has been detected in the case that the reflectance strength parameter decreases the larger the relative speed parameter from a central relative speed parameter, which is the relative speed parameter corresponding to the peak reflectance strength, the reflectance strength parameter decreases the smaller the relative speed parameter from the central relative speed parameter, and the reflectance strength parameter distribution is symmetrical centered on the central relative speed parameter.
