Abstract:
Provided is a vehicle-mounted radar system that is capable of improving object detection performance in response to a situation. This vehicle-mounted radar system comprises laser radars 2A–2D for radiating laser light onto the surroundings of a vehicle 1 and receiving light reflected by an object in the surroundings of the vehicle 1 and a control device 3 for controlling the laser radars 2A–2D and recognizing an object on the basis of light reception results from the laser radars 2A–2D. On the basis of the result of the object recognition, the control device 3 determines whether there is an undetected area caused by an object blocking the laser light of one of the laser radars 2A–2D. For example, if there is an undetected area 11 caused by another vehicle 10 blocking the laser light of laser radar 2B, the detection range of laser radar 2A, which is adjacent to laser radar 2B, is widened such that at least a portion of the undetected area 11 can be detected.
