Abstract:
A vehicle power supply device 1 comprises: a backup power supply 6 that has power supplied thereto from a vehicle-mounted battery 3; a booster 20 that boosts the voltage of the backup power supply 6 to a boost voltage Vb; a motor drive unit 7 that is connected to the battery 3 and the booster 20, has power supplied thereto from whichever of the battery 3 and the booster 20 has the higher voltage, and can drive an electric motor 2; and a control unit 8 that controls the operation of the booster 20. The control unit 8 controls the booster 20 and boosts the voltage of the backup power supply 6 to greater than the rated voltage of the battery 3, when a determination has been made that prescribed boost conditions have been satisfied.
