Abstract:
Provided is a vehicle seat with a side support mechanism that ensures steady holding of a seated occupant while also having the ability to assist with the occupant's exit from the vehicle. This vehicle seat is provided with: a side support mechanism (30) that supports a cushion side section (10) of a seat cushion in a manner capable of switching between a seating position and a vehicle exit assist position; a lock mechanism (40) that locks the cushion side section (10) in the seating position; and a lock release mechanism that releases the lock mechanism (40) from the locked state. The lock release mechanism has a first lock release lever (51) that detects whether a occupant is seated on a cushion center section (15), and a second lock release lever (54) that detects whether the occupant is seated on the cushion side section (10) in order to exit the vehicle. When the second lock release lever (54) detects the occupant while the first lock release lever (51) is also detecting the occupant, the locked state is released.
