Abstract:
A vehicle self-location device used in a vehicle, said vehicle self-location device being provided with an image generation unit (S105-S110, S205-S210, S305-S310), a marking recognition unit (S115, S215, S315), a map data acquisition unit (S120, S225), and a position correction unit (S125-S130, S230-S235). The image generation unit generates a photographic image of the road surrounding the vehicle when looked down on from the vertical direction on the basis of photograph information from photographic devices (21-24) attached to the vehicle. The marking recognition unit recognizes the shape of a road marking drawn on the road in the photographic image. The map data acquisition unit acquires map data indicating a map image including the shape of the road marking. The position correction unit corrects the absolute position of the vehicle by comparing the shape of the road marking recognized by the marking recognition unit and the shape of a road marking in the periphery of the vehicle that is a road marking included in the map image.
