Abstract:
A spring wire (20) having a hardness of 50 to 56 HRC is subjected to a first shot-peening step (S6) and a second shot-peening step (S7) in a temperature range from 150 to 350°C. At the first shot-peening step (S6), a first shot having a shot size of 1.0 mm or more is used. At the second shot-peening step (S7), a second shot smaller than the first shot is used. At the shot-peeing steps (S6, S7), a compression residual stress is imparted to the spring wire (20). The spring wire (20) has a residual stress increased region (T1), a residual stress peak region (T3), and a residual stress decreased region (T4). Within the residual stress decreased region (T4), a region (B) having a compression residual stress equivalent to that of the surface of the spring wire (20) is present at the depth greater than an allowable pit depth (Rmax).
