Title:
VEHICLE TORQUE CONVERTER
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2012/144009
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Provided is a vehicle torque converter capable of ensuring sufficient space for installing a damper mechanism without modifying the engine compartment. An outer peripheral portion of a front cover (12a) of a pump impeller (12) is offset toward an output side, with a ring-shaped space (S) in which a damper mechanism (34) is housed formed outside an inner peripheral portion of the front cover (12a). A center position (PD) of the damper mechanism (34) with respect to the direction of a shaft center (C) overlaps with a shaft end portion of an input shaft (26) which is an output shaft of the torque converter (10), an inner peripheral portion of a turbine rotor (14), and an inner peripheral portion of a front cover (12b) in a radial direction. The ring-shaped space (S) that is relatively large can be formed on the outside of the inner peripheral portion of the front cover (12b), and the damper mechanism (34) that is relatively large is housed in the ring-shaped space (S). Thus, the damper mechanism (34) having high damping performance can be installed without modifying the engine compartment.
