Abstract:
Provided is a vehicle travel control apparatus for implementing travel control such that during acceleration, a predetermined speed is reached without starting the engine, while increasing the amount of regenerative energy collected during deceleration, so as to improve fuel economy. A vehicle travel control apparatus (100) for controlling vehicle speed mounted on a hybrid vehicle with an engine (107) and a motor (112) as power sources is provided with: a target vehicle speed computing unit (200)for calculating a target vehicle speed; an acceleration command value calculation unit (201) for calculating an acceleration command value (211) on the basis of the target vehicle speed; an acceleration limit processing unit (203) for calculating a limited acceleration command value (214) by limiting the acceleration command value (211) with a predetermined upper-limit value and a lower-limit value; a torque command value computing unit (205) for calculating a torque command value from the limited acceleration command value (214); and a speed-change command value computing unit (206) that determines the need for downshift on the basis of the acceleration command value (211) and an upper-limit torque or a lower-limit torque of the motor, and that computes a speed-change command value (215).
