Abstract:
A vehicle travel control apparatus is provided with: a utility function determination unit (242) that determines a utility function (fu) representing a relationship between a vehicle speed control manipulation amount of a vehicle (2) and an effectiveness degree; a travel inhibition degree function determination unit (241) that determines a travel inhibition degree function (fr) representing a relationship between the vehicle speed control manipulation amount and an expected degree of inhibition to vehicle travel; and an appropriateness function determination unit (243) that determines an appropriateness function (fap) combining the functions (fu, fr). Driving or braking force for the vehicle (2) is manipulated in accordance with the value of the vehicle speed control manipulation amount corresponding to the highest appropriateness in the appropriateness function (fap).
