Abstract:
Provided is a vehicle travel control device with which the shock due to engagement of a clutch (10) during neutral coasting can be reduced, and with which it is possible to reduce the amount of time from fulfillment of the conditions for engaging the clutch (10) until the torque to the drive wheels (2, 2) is increased as desired. In this travel control device, which is for a vehicle equipped with an engagement mechanism (10) that is between the drive source (1) and the drive wheels (2, 2), and that transmits to the drive wheels (2, 2) the power output from the drive source (1), and interrupts the transmission of that power, when the vehicle is in a coasting state wherein the engagement mechanism (10) has been released and the transmission of torque between the drive source (1) and the drive wheels (2, 2) has been interrupted, and when there is a possibility that the engagement mechanism (10) may be engaged, the rotational frequency of the drive source (1) in the coasting state is set higher than the idle rotational frequency.
