Abstract:
In different types of coasting, this vehicle travel control device both improves fuel efficiency and improves acceleration performance and suppression of clutch engagement shock when switching back from coasting. By lock-up being off during neutral coasting, a vibration damping effect and torque amplification effect are obtained when switching back from coasting, and, when switching back, the engagement shock of the clutch (C1) is suppressed and the delay in response until the drive force becomes available is recovered. Meanwhile, by lock-up being on during cylinder deactivation coasting, fuel efficiency is improved by reducing power loss in the torque converter (22). Furthermore, even if, when switching back from coasting, the torque amplification effect and vibration damping effect are not obtained by the lock-up being on during cylinder deactivation coasting, since the clutch is by nature engaged during cylinder deactivation coasting, when switching back from coasting, the drive force becomes available quickly and the engagement shock of the clutch (C1) does not occur.
