Abstract:
The present invention operates an autonomous speed control function that autonomously controls the travel speed of a vehicle and an autonomous steering control function that autonomously controls steering of the vehicle to autonomously control the vehicle, and when it is possible to recognize the external state of the vehicle using a captured image of a camera provided on the vehicle, uses the information recognized from the captured image to execute a first autonomous control for autonomously controlling the vehicle, acquires information showing the external state of the vehicle from map information stored in a storage medium provided in the vehicle, uses the acquired information to execute a second autonomous control for autonomously controlling the vehicle, identifies an unrecognizable area for which the external state of the vehicle cannot be recognized using the captured image, and when the unrecognizable area is on the travel route of the vehicle, switches from the first autonomous control to the second autonomous control before the vehicle enters the unrecognizable area.
