Abstract:
Provided is a vehicle wheel bearing device that makes it possible to stabilize the orientation of a vehicle when turning by suppressing deformation of the raceway surface of an outer member. The vehicle wheel bearing device comprises: an outer ring (2) having a double row of outside raceway surfaces (2a) on the inner circumference thereof; an inner member having a double row of inside raceway surfaces facing the double row of outside raceway surfaces (2a); and a double row of rolling bodies that are accommodated so as to be capable of rolling between the raceway surfaces of the outer ring (2) and the inner member. The outer ring (2) has a hardened section (21) hardened along the outside raceway surfaces (2a). The hardening depth (D1) in the position brought into contact with the rolling bodies in the hardened section (21) is deeper than the generation depth (D2) of stress exceeding the yield point prior to hardening when the maximum stress anticipated during use is input.
