Abstract:
Provided is a small HUD device that offers highly reliable image display and high thermal reliability. A HUD device 1 comprises an image display unit 2, which is provided with a display panel (liquid crystal panel) 22 for displaying an image, and an optical system 3, which projects image light of the displayed image onto the vehicle windshield, the HUD device being configured such that a virtual image of the image can be viewed by means of the light reflected by the windshield. The image display unit 2 is set in a region such that an effective display region 22a for displaying the image is biased toward one end portion of the display panel 22. The optical system 3 comprises: a first reflective portion 31 that reflects image light emitted from the image display unit 2; and a second reflective portion 32 that reflects the reflected light from the first reflective portion 31 toward the windshield. The image display unit 2 is disposed facing the first reflective portion 31, and the display panel 22 is disposed in such a posture that the one end portion thereof is made to face toward the second reflective portion 32.
