Abstract:
The width size of a flange portion is reduced and the tip of the flange portion is made easily weldable. A hollow pedal arm (10) includes a pair of halved members (16) including a pair of side-wall portions (18, 20) and a bottom wall member (22), and includes a longitudinal curved wall (24) having U-cross section, the halved members (16) being combined with mutual recesses facing each other. A front-side flange portion (26) and a rear-side flange portion (28) protrudes outside from an open edge of the recesses and are overlapped with each other, with respective tips being welded. When the hollow pedal arm (10) is welded, a flat clamp surface (32) formed on the bottom wall portion (22) provides a clamp portion that clamps the front-side flange portion (26) and the rear-side flange portion (28). Thus, the width size of the rear-side flange portion (28) , of which the need for a clamp portion is eliminated, can be reduced, and a clamping jig can be spaced further away from the tip of the welded rear-side flange portion (28), making the rear-side flange portion (28) easily weldable.
