Abstract:
Intended is to exhibit the desired progressive spring characteristics to the
vertical strokes of a wheel without being restricted by the motion transmissions
of the link mechanism of a suspension. This suspension comprises first and second
support members for supporting the end portions of a suspension spring, respectively,
on the side of the vehicle body and on the side of a suspension member, and a motion
transmission device including a first transmission unit and a second transmission
unit for converting the vertical motions of the suspension member into the relative
motions of the spacing changes of the first and second support members thereby
to transmit the converted relative motions to one of the first and second support
members. The first and second transmission units change the ratio of the momentum
of the motion transmission target to the momentum of the motion transmission
source, continuously and nonlinearly according to the motions of the motion
transmission target, thereby to change the ratio of the momentum of the relative
motion to the momentum of the suspension member, continuously and nonlinearly
according to the vertical motions of the suspension member.
