Abstract:
The present invention relates to a vending machine (1) which is provided with a plurality of commodity columns (42) on commodity shelves arranged in a plurality of stages in a vertical direction, and stores and sells the commodities in storage passages (42a) of the commodity columns (42). Each of the commodity columns (42) has the same number of storable commodities and is associated with a commodity selection button (7) for selecting a commodity for sale, causes a storage passage (42a) to be merged with another storage passage (42a) of another commodity column (42) and be connectable with the other commodity column (42), and is provided with: a storage unit (56) which preserves commodity management data (D1) in which commodity management content including commodity column numbers is associated with commodity management numbers at a time of sale, the commodity management numbers indicating the minimum management units in which commodity codes previously attached to commodities stored in the commodity columns (42) before the sale thereof are combined with cold/hot states at the time when the commodities are sold; and a selling control unit (62) which performs a selling control on the commodities on the basis of the commodity management data (D1), wherein the number of commodity columns (42) at the bottom of the commodity shelves is made variable, and thus the minimum total number of the commodity columns (42) is greater than the total number of the commodity selection buttons (7).
