Abstract:
The special shape and arrangement of windmill blades make it possible to provide a vertical axis windmill having lightweight and rigid blades, ensuring safety by preventing the rotation radius of the windmill from increasing, having good start-up performance and rotation efficiency of the windmill, and having no restriction on the installation place. A blade (3) is disposed through a vertical rotational axis (1) and circular end plates (2) attached at the top and bottom of the vertical rotational axis (1) such that the side of the curved surface portion (X) of the blade (3) faces the side of the vertical rotational axis (1). In addition, a first recess portion (4), a second recess portion (5), a third recess portion (6), and a fourth recess portion (7) are formed on the side of the curved surface portion (X) of the blade (3) so that each has a wide opening on the side of the leading edge (3a) and becomes narrower toward the trailing edge (3b). Wind that flows in from the leading edge (3a) is made to pass through the first recess portion (4) to the fourth recess portion (7) and thereby wind speed is increased.
