Abstract:

The present invention comprises: a mold for casting a slab by cooling molten steel; a surface plate which is vertically movable and descends in a state supporting the lower part of the slab cast in the mold, to draw the slab from the mold in a state in which the slab is perpendicular to the ground; and a guide device which is located below the mold, supports the slab drawn by the surface plate, and guides the descent of the slab. The guide device includes: a plurality of guide rolls each of which is disposed on both sides of a moving path of the surface plate below the mold, supports the slab moved by the surface plate, and guides the movement of the slab; and first and second guide parts each provided with a brake unit which is connected to the guide rolls and applies braking force to the guide rolls which are rotated by the movement of the slab. According to embodiments of the present invention, slabs can be vertically cast continuously from molten steel supplied from a plurality of ladles rather than one ladle, and the production rate and yield rate of slab are thus increased two-fold or more.
