Abstract:
Disclosed is a vertical countercurrent solid-liquid contact method, which comprises supplying an aqueous slurry containing solid particles from an upper position and allowing the aqueous slurry to flow downward through multiple contact chambers, said contact chambers being vertically connected to each other, while feeding a liquid to be contacted from a lower position and allowing the liquid to flow upward through the aforesaid contact chambers being vertically connected to each other, thereby continuously countercurrent contacting said aqueous slurry with said liquid to be contacted, or a device therefor, wherein the viscosity of the liquid phase in at least one contact chamber is controlled. Specifically disclosed is the aforesaid method or device, wherein the viscosity η1 of the liquid phase in the contact chamber located at the uppermost position is controlled so that η1 satisfies the requirement: 0.9≤η1/η0≤2.0 [wherein η0 represents the standard viscosity at a preset standard temperature and at the standard composition of the liquid phase].
