Abstract:
A vertical lathe which has a bed (1, 2), a turntable (3) provided for mounting a workpiece on the bed, a blade base (8) for holding a tool holder (14) mounted directly on the front surface of a vertical column (5) in such a manner that the column (5) is placed on a guide surface (4) formed on the upper surface of the bed (1, 2), and a lateral feeder (7, 6, 7a) for moving the base (8) laterally with respect to the table (3) by moving the column, so that the cutting accuracy is increased, and a tool magazine (23, 28) is turnably mounted around the column (5) or at the side of the table (3), the holder (14) is contained in a square receptacle formed in the peripheral edge of the tool magazine, and thus the tools can be automatically exchanged.
