Abstract:
The present invention relates to a vibrating touch panel for automated teller machines (ATMs) and a method for operating same. More specifically, the present invention relates to a vibrating touch panel for ATMs and a method of operating same, the vibrating touch panel including a vibrating motor attached to one side of a touch panel that displays bank account information to a user and receives user input, a sensor for detecting a user's touch on a menu item of choice on the touch panel, and a controller for operating the vibrating motor in a certain pattern according to the information related to the touch, detected by the sensor, of the menu item selected by the user, such that when the user chooses a menu item through the touch panel the user is able to get a realistic feeling through the vibration and at the same time, recognize any error, which may occur when touching a menu item, by means of the vibration different from that preset for the menu item chosen by the user. To this end, the present invention comprises: a liquid crystal panel for providing an image that displays menu items to be chosen for a banking transaction; a touch panel provided on top of the liquid crystal panel, providing an input means for allowing a user to select a menu item displayed on the image on the liquid crystal panel, and receiving information on the menu item that is selected by the user through the input means; at least one vibrating motor attached to the touch panel, for generating vibrations; a printed circuit board having a metallic electrode line for applying power to the touch panel; a sensor for detecting a touch position from a user on a selected menu item of the touch panel; and a controller for operating the vibrating motor in a certain pattern according to the touch information, detected by the sensor, related to the menu item selected by the user.
