Abstract:
Provided is a vibration dampening device that has a simple structure, does not depend on the length of the vibration cycle of a structure, can efficiently absorb small amplitude and large amplitude vibration energy, is highly practical and can have multiple uses. The disclosed dampening device (1) can control the vibration of a structure and is provided with a sliding structure (2) that has a recessed sliding body (3) and a protruding sliding body (4), which are provided fixed to the structure and facing each other such that the sliding bodies can slide with a reciprocating sliding movement relative to one other; and an impelling means (leaf spring (5)) that impels the sliding structure (2) in the direction that the sliding bodies (3, 4), which slide back and forth relative to each other, are pushed against each other. Each sliding body (3, 4) has a first sliding face that increases the height of the sliding structure (2) in association with increases in the amount of displacement in one direction from a central position in the range of the reciprocating sliding movement relative the opposite sliding body and a second sliding face that increases the height of the sliding structure (2) in association with increases in the amount of displacement in the other direction from the central position.
