A vibration damping device (10) is provided with: a vibration damping device body (11) comprising a first mounting member (12) having a rectangular tubular shape, a second mounting member (13) that is inserted through the inside of the first mounting member (12), and an elastic body (14) that connects both of these mounting members; and an outer member (40) that is fitted to the first mounting member (12) from the outside thereof. The vibration damping device body (11) comprises a pair of liquid chambers (26, 28) that have a liquid enclosed therein and that are connected to one another via a limiting path (29). At least one of the pair of liquid chambers (26, 28) is provided within the first mounting member (12) and is set to be a pressure-receiving liquid chamber (26) having a wall surface of which one section is configured from an elastic body (14). The limiting path (29) is configured by using the inner peripheral surface of the outer member (40) to close a groove (29a) that is formed on the outer peripheral surface of the first mounting member (12). The outer member (40) is divided into a plurality of outer divided bodies (40a) in the peripheral direction of the first mounting member (12). This vibration damping device (10) can make it easier to maintain damping performance.
