Abstract:
A vibration energy absorber (1) comprises a reciprocating member (2) reciprocating freely between positive and negative maximum displacement positions D±max with respect to the origin position O in the H direction, a damping force generating means (3) generating a damping force R against reciprocating motion of the reciprocating member (2) in the H direction, and a means (4) for controlling the damping force generating means (3) to generate a predetermined damping force R during forth motion of the reciprocating member (2) in the H direction in the respective H-direction motions from the positive and negative maximum displacement positions D±max to the origin position O, and controlling the damping force generating means (3) not to generate the damping force R substantially in the respective H-direction motions from the origin position O to the positive and negative maximum displacement positions D±max following the movements in the H direction.
