A video call method and an electronic device, wherein same relate to the technical field of communications, realize the free switching of a video call on a mobile terminal and a vehicle-mounted terminal, meet different requirements of a user in various scenarios, and can not only ensure the driving safety of the user, but also improve the usage experience of the user. The method comprises: a mobile terminal establishing a communication connection with a vehicle-mounted terminal; the mobile terminal receiving first information sent by the vehicle-mounted terminal, wherein the first information is an indication that a first user initiates a video call with a second user on the vehicle-mounted terminal; in response to the first information, the mobile terminal establishing a video call connection with a terminal of a second user, and receiving video data of the second user; and the mobile terminal sending the video data of the second user to the vehicle-mounted terminal, and sending video data, collected by means of a camera of the vehicle-mounted terminal, of the first user to the terminal of the second user.
