Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for improving encoding/decoding efficiency by utilizing a decoder-based intra prediction mode extraction scheme from among the video coding schemes. The video decoding method comprises the steps of: acquiring, from a bitstream, data for decoder-based intra prediction mode extraction; determining, by means of the acquired information, the shape and size of a template for generating an intra prediction block; generating neighboring reference samples of the template for determining the intra prediction mode of the determined template; determining the intra prediction mode of the template by means of the generated neighboring reference samples of the template; and generating an intra prediction block by means of the determined intra prediction mode of the template.
