Abstract:
A video display device 1 is provided with: a first illuminator 102 and a second illuminator 103 that irradiate an operation surface with illumination light for operation detection from different directions; an imaging unit 101 that uses a rolling shutter type imaging element and captures an image of the operation surface irradiated with the illumination light together with an operation object (finger) of a user; and a contact point detection unit 108 that, on the basis of the image captured by the imaging unit, detects a contact point at which the operation object of the user has come into contact with the operation surface. Contact point detection processing by the contact point detection unit utilizes captured images of shadows of the operation object of the user, the shadows being cast by repeatedly alternately lighting the first illuminator and the second illuminator, and is characterized in that a lighting period of one of the first illuminator and the second illuminator in the alternate lighting thereof is longer than a one-frame imaging period T of the imaging unit.
