Provided are a video download method and apparatus, and an electronic device, relating to the technical field of multimedia. The method comprises: when it is detected that a user triggers a download operation in a video playing interface, sending prompt information to the user; receiving a download time period input by the user; sending a video download request, with a video identifier and the download time period, to a server; and receiving and storing a partial video data sent by the server according to the video download request, the server performing segmentation on video data corresponding to the video identifier in advance with a pre-set time length as a unit, wherein the partial video data comprises various segmented video data corresponding to the download time period. While a user wants to download a partial video data, he/she only needs to input a time period corresponding to a partial video data which needs to be downloaded, so as to download the partial video data, thereby effectively saving traffic of a terminal device, and reducing the occupation of the storage space of the terminal device by unnecessary video data for the user.
