Disclosed are: a video encoding method and apparatus for determining, on the basis of encoding information of a current block, whether an MPM list is used, acquiring, from a bit stream, intra-prediction mode index information indicating one of candidate intra-prediction modes included in the MPM list, and determining the intra-prediction mode of the current block by using the acquired intra-prediction mode index information; and a video decoding method and apparatus.
