Abstract:
Provided are a video encoding and decoding method for performing encoding by parallax compensation performing prediction by using a parallax between a plurality of videos when encoding a plurality of videos into one video. The method selects and sets the number of parameters of the parallax information for each reference image used for the parallax compensation, encodes the information of the number of parameters which has been set, and encodes the parallax information in accordance with the number of parameters. During decoding, the method decodes the parallax parameter quantity information specifying the number of parameters of the parallax information for each reference image and decodes the parallax information in accordance with the number of parameters contained in the encoded information.
