Abstract:
A video image decoding device receives, as a code string to be decoded: a first code string to be decoded that includes information based on an encoded residual coefficient, and header information associated therewith; or a second code string to be decoded that includes a residual image obtained from the encoding process of the first code string to be decoded, and header information associated therewith. If the code string to be decoded that is received by a receiving unit is the first code string to be decoded, a reconfigured image is generated and outputted by adding a residual decoded image and a predicted image generated by the predicted-image generation unit. If the code string to be decoded that is received by the receiving unit is the second code string to be decoded, a reconfigured image is generated and outputted by adding the residual image included in the second code string to be decoded and the predicted image.
