Abstract:
When video data is divided for a plurality of recording media and the recorded video data is reproduced individually, the video data can be reproduced normally while conforming to the standard at the time of image compression.
A video recorder records video data continuously across a plurality of recording media. The video recorder includes an encoding unit which encodes the video data to create the encoded data of a frame image, first and second recording medium control units which control the access to the plurality of recording media, i.e. the first and second recording media, respectively, an encoded data control unit which controls the encoded data to be recorded on the first recording medium by using the first recording medium control unit, and controls the encoded data subsequent to the encoded data recorded on the first recording medium to be recorded on the second recording medium by using the second recording medium control unit, and a management data control unit which creates the second management data indicating a frame image decodable by the encoded data on the second recording medium alone, and controls the second management data to be recorded on the second recording medium by using the second recording medium control unit.
