The invention provides a video switching method based on multichannel decoding, applied to the boot of an intelligent device. A system desktop starter is provided, and after the system desktop starter is started, a main interface is formed. The video switching method comprises the following steps: start the intelligent device to accomplish an initialization operation of a system file; close display of an image layer, decode an obtained boot video, and display the boot video on a video layer; after the system desktop starter is started, display the main interface on the image layer in a transparent form; after the system boot is accomplished, the intelligent device creates a display layer, and displays the display layer on the image layer, the display area of the display layer being smaller than that of the image layer; and the system desktop starter decodes remotely obtained video data, and displays the video data on the display layer. The technical solution has the beneficial effects of avoiding the problem of waiting for the loading of video data of an online video for playing after a boot video is completely played, resulting in a too long waiting time and affecting the user experience.
