Abstract:
The viewing direction estimation device according to one embodiment of the present invention is provided with, for example: a storage unit that stores a transition probability between viewing directions of a vehicle driver; a reception unit that receives an observed value with regard to a vehicle driver's face or line of sight; an update unit that, on the basis of an observed value at a first clock time and an observed value at a second clock time subsequent to the first clock time, updates the transition probability from a viewing direction at the first clock time to a viewing direction at the second clock time; a calculation unit that calculates, using a Hidden Markov Model, a state probability of transition from the viewing direction at the first clock time to the viewing direction at the second clock time in accordance with the updated transition probability; and an estimation unit that estimates a viewing direction at a clock time subsequent to the second clock time on the basis of the calculated state probability.
