Title:
VIOLIN SUPPORT DEVICE WITH COMBINED CHIN-REST AND SHOULDER-REST
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2017/022865
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
This violin support device was invented so as to integrate a chin-rest and a shoulder-rest for a violin, which have previously been created by people, such that said chin-rest and shoulder-rest function as one. The violin shoulder-rest directly attaches to a violin, and rests on the shoulder and arm muscles as a platform for supporting a violin in a strong and stable manner. By resting a violin on the muscle at the top of the trapezius, which has the greatest strength and endurance in the body, and simultaneously supporting the jaw from the right using a chin-rest, the left side of the jaw is held in a fixed position and naturally rests on the leftward resonance chamber, forming the fundamental posture for holding a violin. Subsequently adjusting the position of the contact area of the body between the arm supporting the violin shoulder-rest and the platform supporting the violin, between the trapezius and the greater pectoral muscle, enables each person to achieve the most suitable way of holding a violin.
