Abstract:
This virtual image display device 110 comprises a projection optical system 114 including a projection mirror 116 that projects image display light L toward a virtual image presentation board 22. The projection mirror 116 has a concave curved surface, the image display light L being obliquely incident on and reflected from the concave curved surface, and the projection mirror is configured such that the curvature at a second cross section intersecting with the concave curved surface is greater than the curvature at a first cross section intersecting with the concave curved surface. The first cross section is a plane including both the incident direction and the reflection direction of the image display light that is obliquely incident on the concave curved surface. The second cross section is a plane orthogonal to the first cross section, and is a plane along a direction orthogonal to both the incident direction and the reflection direction of the image display light that is obliquely incident on the concave curved surface. A display unit 12 is arranged at a focal point within the meridional plane of a compositing optical system 120 constituted by the virtual image presentation board 22 and the projection optical system 114.
