Abstract:
Provided is a virtual image projection optical system capable of simultaneously displaying bright virtual images at a plurality of distances. A main body optical system 13, which is the virtual image projection optical system, performs virtual projection and display of an image formed by the image forming element 11, which is a display device, across a display screen 20, and comprises: an intermediate screen 16 disposed at the formation position of an intermediate image TI; a projection optical system 15 disposed closer to the image forming element 11 than the intermediate screen 16; a virtual image generation optical system 17 disposed closer to the display screen 20 than the intermediate screen 16; and an arrangement changing device 62 that moves the intermediate screen 16 in the optical axis AX2 direction, wherein the optical axis AX3 of the virtual image generation optical system 17 is inclined with respect to the intermediate screen 16, and the optical axis AX2 of the projection optical system 15 is arranged at a position shifted from the optical axis AX1 of the image in a direction perpendicular to the optical axis AX1 of the image.
