Abstract:
A virtual reality display device. The display device comprises: an image source (210) for outputting a beam of source light carrying N source virtual images capable of being joined to form a target virtual image, N being an integer greater than or equal to 2; and an image expansion component (220) for receiving the source light and converting the source light to N beams of target linearly polarized light, the N beams of the target linearly polarized light being separated from each other and comprising first target linearly polarized light having a first linear polarization direction and second target linearly polarized light having a second linear polarization direction, the first linear polarization direction being orthogonal to the second linear polarization direction. Each beam of the target linearly polarized light carries one of the source virtual images. Two adjacent beams of the target linearly polarized light carry two of the source virtual images that are adjacent in position in the target virtual image. The two adjacent the source virtual images have overlapping edges in a user view. The display device increases a field of view.
