The embodiments of the present application disclose a virtual scene change method and apparatus, a terminal device and a storage medium, which are used for improving service adaptability of a portal, improving application scenes of the portal, and enhancing the user cross-portal experience. In the method, when a terminal device determines that the relative position between a target virtual object and a target scene change trigger satisfies a predetermined position relationship, it can be determined that the target virtual object may wish to cross the target scene change trigger; then the terminal device can add a target 3D model at the position where the target scene change trigger is located, elongating the path for the target virtual object to cross in the target scene change trigger by way of thickening the target scene change trigger, etc., thereby implicitly achieving the effect of increasing the thickness of the target scene change trigger, decreasing or even eliminating the abruptness during crossing, such that the target virtual object can cross in an immersive manner.
