Title:
VISUAL INSPECTION METHOD AND VISUAL INSPECTION APPARATUS FOR TIRES
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2011/115256
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Disclosed are a visual inspection method and a visual inspection apparatus for tires by which the outer shape of a tire can be inspected in a shorter period time and by means of a simpler processing method in comparison to prior methods, and moreover by which the detection of even microscopic defects on the surface of the tire is possible. In the visual inspection method for tires, the surface of the tire (10) is irradiated with polarized light (L1), the reflected polarized light (L2) from the tire surface is received by a polarization camera (2), and irregularities on the surface of the tire are detected from the optical intensity of the reflected light that was received. The polarization camera (2) is preferably equipped with a polarizer having at least three or more different directions. In addition, linearly polarized light can be optimally used as the polarized light.
